Taking centre stage in England's largest county is the ancient city of York. Nowadays, it's a vibrant, cosmopolitan place with a wealth of tourist attractions, exciting shopping and numerous fine restaurants. The rolling countryside of the Vale of York opens out to three distinct and charming regions. The dales border the Pennines and feature small towns, villages and a patchwork of fields and dry-stone walls. The Moors to the East are vast areas of heather dotted with dales and woodland while the spectacular Eastern coastline yields cliffs, sandy beaches, famous resorts & quaint old towns.
