1885 The Restaurant Review

Set in a converted Victorian cottage on the fringes of Halifax, overlooking the Pennines, this sophisticated – but unassuming – restaurant is genially run by members of the Evans family. It's an impressive and industrious enterprise that also includes an on-site shop selling everything from home-baked bread to cigars and Champagne.

Meals are served in a tastefully decorated dining room, with low ceilings and subdued lights providing an intimate backdrop to the seasonal modern food on offer.
