Housed in the old lifeboat building on St Ives wharf, Alba now spreads itself over two tastefully refurbished floors: fine harbour views are the big attraction upstairs (although the displays of local art are also worth a look).
Local seafood gets a good airing on the wide-ranging modern menu. Salt-and-pepper squid with cucumber salad and Vietnamese dressing might precede monkfish cassoulet with chorizo, pancetta and haricots blancs or grilled plaice with soy and ginger butter sauce.
