The Angel Hotel occupies a most beautiful spot opposite the Abbey Gardens in the centre of Bury St Edmunds. First mentioned in 1452, the building has a wealth of fascinating history and has had close links with the famous Abbey throughout the centuries. It has also welcomed many famous guests including Charles Dickens.
Following a major refit, food is now available throughout the day, either in the stylish Eaterie (complete with stunning artwork) that overlooks the town's main square, or in the Vaults Restaurant - housed in the twelfth century cellars that were once used as an underground market run by the Abbey.
The kitchen delivers a raft of user-friendly dishes with a modern British accent and a few European notes.
