The Angel's proud boast is that it's not only the oldest hostelry in the historic town of Corbridge, but also the largest. A grand-looking coaching inn since 1726, it occupies a prime spot overlooking the River Tyne and boasts convivial bars (with local real ales and occasional live music evenings), a wood-panelled lounge for chilling out and reading the papers, and a smartly appointed restaurant.
The refurbished dining room is dominated by its handsome beamed roof, and its bare brick walls are festooned with paintings by local artists.
