Established in 1980, Antico Restaurant has established a reputation as one of the most reliable Italian restaurants in the environs of Henley on Thames. Set in the centre of town, not far from the river, it's a likeable venue with a smartly appointed dining room, a delightful summery courtyard and private facilities for special occasions.
The menu mixes trattoria staples with a few individual touches and classic ideas from elsewhere: expect cannelloni, gnocchi and spaghetti carbonara alongside saltimbocca alla romana, salmon in creamy Champagne sauce, and honey-roast boneless Gressingham duck.
Seasonal fish and game add extra zest to the menu, and you could finish with tiramisu, strawberries Romanoff or some Italian cheese (perhaps Sardinian Pecorino served with English honey).
