Combining the virtues of bar, restaurant, deli and art gallery, Avanti is a real asset to the small Cumbrian market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. The dining room is upstairs above the bar and the place also has a delightful back garden for al fresco meals (best viewed at night when the special lighting comes into its own).

The first thing you notice inside is the impressive artwork on the walls – not to mention the stylish and fascinating crockery (which emanates from a local pottery).
