A handy fixture of the Cambridge scene, just off the main drag, Backstreet Bistro wins friends with its relaxed, convivial mood and colourful eclectic cooking. The interior is buzzy and open-plan, with lots of intimate little areas and an enclosed outdoor seating area for alfresco meals.

The kitchen roams the world in search of culinary ideas, offering antipasti, mezze and Camembert fondue ahead of Thai crab cakes, Spanish-style chicken with chorizo and crispy potatoes, sizzling hoisin duck, and deep-fried Parmesan and risotto balls.
