The Baltic Restaurant is Jan Woroniecki's Southwark venture into the world of East European cooking and the pleasures of strong vodka. The building itself - an eighteenth-century coachbuilder's - has been redesigned with a sleek frontage, a long bar and walkway leading down to the minimalist dining room where white walls, wooden trussed ceilings and skylights create a suitably Nordic feel.
The restaurant's name gives a geographical clue to the food: the Baltic and the Adriatic dominate, with a few detours northwards towards Scandinavia.
