The Bear is a venerable beast that can trace its ancestry back to 1432. That said, most of this renowned and exceedingly popular coaching inn dates from Georgian times and there are echoes of the past everywhere.

On the food front, the place has two strings to its bow, although all-comers are treated with friendliness and good humour.
