Bilash Review

A long-serving West Midlands rendezvous, the Bilash stands right in the centre of Wolverhampton opposite the Civic Centre. For more than 20 years, the kitchen has been delivering a highly distinctive menu, packed with a big selection of dishes that are a bit different to the curry house norm. Pickles are freshly made (always a good sign) and proceedings might kick off with some unexpected morsels like pancake rolls filled with shredded chicken or galouti kebabs (minced lamb with spices and mango powder).

There are the usual tandooris, biryanis and the like, but the kitchen scores with its specials: murghi tok is marinated chicken cooked with shatkora and other indigenous Bangladeshi fruit, while maach diya masala comprises grilled marinated sea bass with warm tomato 'salsa', mint and yoghurt.
