For many years, the ancient Burnmoor Inn (circa 1578) has fostered an enviable reputation as one of the best place in the Eskdale Valley for real ales: the pub even stages week-long beer festivals with a prodigious line up of brews on show.
Recently re-named The Boot Inn it is also renowned for its spectacular location at the foot of Scafell Pike – in fact some of the Lake District' s greatest walking and climbing challenges are within easy reach.
Meat from the valley and fish from the lakes feature on the menus, which cover a lot of ground from organic gammon steak with egg and chips to venison and red wine casserole or tuna loin with asparagus, cherry tomatoes and sweet chilli sauce.
