From the outside the handsome Brownlow Arms looks rather like a bijou country house hotel, although it still plays the part of an old-fashioned inn with rooms. Dating back to the seventeenth century, it was formerly owned by Lord Brownlow and his crest still adorns the sign outside.
Food is served in two rather formal, traditionally attired dining rooms, and you can also eat al fresco on the landscaped back terrace in fine weather.
