Stained glass windows, dark wood fittings and sturdy pews give this intimate neighbourhood bistro a slightly ecclesiastical feel, although there's nothing reverential about the happy atmosphere that pervades the place.
The surroundings are ideally suited to functions and celebratory events, and Brula Bistrot is much in demand as a venue for private dining, weddings and conferences.
The kitchen deals in old-school French cooking along the lines of carrot and ginger soup, escargots bourgogne, roast breast of Barbary duck with peas à la française and braised leg of lamb with persillade, bolstered by fish dishes such as roast cod with Puy lentils and salsa verde.
