Nick and Susannah Parkes learned their trade at Gleneagles before setting up on their own at this comfortable Georgian townhouse situated in Scotland's first National Park. Theirs is a genuinely unpretentious restaurant-with-rooms, fitted out with unclothed tables, tartan curtains, chalk boards and jazz playing the background.

The owners also cook, and their menu is a sprightly mix of Scottish ingredients with some French and Mediterranean influences showing through.
