Standing proud in 44 acres of grounds on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Callow Hall looks every inch the grand Victorian pile, with its bell tower, tall chimneys and leaded windows. Following the retirement of Mr and Mrs Spencer senior (whose family had owned and run the hotel for more than two decades), it was recently taken over by the elite Von Essen Hotel group.
