'Close your eyes and you could be on the Costa' just about sums up the irresistible charms of this cracking little tapas joint Casa Don Carlos, in Brighton's famous Lanes. But get there early for lunch or dinner if you are going on spec: of course, since it's open right through the day there are quiet times – if that's what you fancy.
The place is owned and run by a Spanish family: it's atmospheric and dimly lit, with cheery gingham cloths on the tables and – by all accounts – some of the most potent Sangria around.
