Casanis is a delightful authentic French restaurant set in an attractive Georgian building, adjacent to Bath's Assembly Rooms and Museum of Costume. The owners are Laurent Couvreur who mans the stoves, while his charming wife Jill looks after front of house. The chic restaurant is set over two floors and is decorated in pastel shades with soft lighting and antiques sourced from markets across Provence, French music playing in the background adds to the Gallic ambience.
Courvreur's food is authentically French, with regional specialities and good gutsy flavours, witness salade de pigeon, roasted breast of pigeon with crushed potatoes and cepes gateau, pickled mushrooms, crispy pancetta and raspberry and herb dressing or bruschetta of warm goat cheese and poached sweet pear with red onion compote and walnut and parmesan dressing.
