Having made a great success of The Wig & Mitre in Lincoln, the Hopes decided to repeat the formula in a country pub: their chosen spot was a sixteenth-century Nottinghamshire village hostelry by a 'beck'. After a serious re-vamp, the Caunton Beck re-opened its doors as a self-styled 'meeting house, reading room, watering hole and restaurant'.
Like The Wig & Mitre, this place thrives on flexibility: you can call can in for something to eat or drink at any time from 8 in the morning to 11 o'clock at night, and you can take a pew in the buzzy bar or the more relaxed restaurant.
