Converted from a takeaway in 2003, the Cedar Tree is as patriotically Lebanese as that country's emblematic flag and is a great asset to central Manchester. It's not hip or sumptuously decked out, but the surroundings are congenial (note the water feature covering one wall), the food is genuine – and it's reasonably priced.
Chef Hassan Chahine picked up most of his knowledge of Lebanese food from his grandmother, who – it's claimed – could cook a thousand dishes!!
