Seductive accommodation is one of this superior inn's great assets, but its Michelin-starred reputation now lies largely with its restaurant, where beef is order of the day and has been for more than 25 years. Champany occupies a collection of whitewashed, red-roofed cottages (some dating back to the sixteenth century) and is Clive and Anne Davidson's pride and joy.
Curtain raisers come in the shape of Loch Gruinart oysters, hot smoked salmon, Highland black pudding served with onion marmalade or perhaps traditional Cullen Skink.
