Down a little-known back street not far from Stamford Bridge and Chelsea Harbour, this lively hostelry brims with bonhomie and unaffected good humour. In a setting of etched glass windows, colourful local artwork and shelves of well-thumbed books, you can enjoy a pint, play cards, read the papers or treat yourself to some cracking gastro pub food.
Monster salmon and dill fishcakes are one of the big hits, but the regularly changing menu also promises warm salad of wood pigeon with quail's eggs, smoked haddock and spinach tart, and crispy risotto balls with sauce vierge.
