A recent refurbishment has brightened up proceedings at Chez Liline a long-running exotic seafood restaurant, although the location opposite Finsbury Park Tesco in a less-than-auspicious neck-of-the-woods hardly inspires raptures.
Concentrate on the food, which delves into the fascinating reaches of Mauritian cuisine with supplies procured from the next-door fish shop. A lot of French influences – and dish names – surface on the menu: bouillon de crabe mourouck with sweet potatoes, sea bream provençale and even crème brûlée appear from time to time.
Elsewhere, Asian influences also creep in – perhaps tartare of tuna with wasabi and soy, grouper with black bean sauce and chilli, or a green Thai curry made with tiger prawns.
