Chiang Mai Kitchen is hidden away down a little alley off Oxford High Street, this rickety-looking, timber-framed building makes an unlikely setting for a genuine Thai restaurant. The interior still boasts a beautiful carved wooden staircase and a wealth of original oak panelling, although ethnic carvings, artefacts and oil lamps on the tables are reminders of the building's current identity.
Ingredients are bona fide, the cooking is authentic and the menu covers most familiar bases of the cuisine, from salads and stir-fries to curries and grills.
