Kim and Steve McNally's popular local restaurant Columbine, occupies a Georgian house behind the King's Head Hotel, within striking distance of Buxton's renowned opera house. It caters equally well for show-goers in a hurry (booking essential) and those wanting to linger. Billed as a 'Licensed Restaurant with Cellars', it is spread over two floors, with the bonus of dining in the subterranean vaults of the building.

The kitchen makes a virtue of generosity ('portions here are large'), but Steve McNally knows his onions.
