The Crown at Stoke by Nayland dates from the mid-sixteenth century and is a solid-looking, white-painted pub which now promises a great deal, with sofas and armchairs adding a touch of comfort to the spick-and-span, low-ceilinged interior.

The menu changes every two weeks, and it's a lively mix of traditional and contemporary ideas.
