Daphne Review

Obliging family owners and an interior bedecked with pictures of home make this Greek-Cypriot taverna an enduring local favourite. Fantastic helpful staff ensure that every occasion is a real treat, whether you're looking for a cosy meal for two or fancy party time. Daphne also has an irresistible rooftop garden, where you can eat outside and drool over memories of all those Greek holidays in the sun.

Lunch is an absolute snip and the full menu runs the gamut from taramasalata , tzatziki and dolmades through giant helpings of moussaka, souvlaki and grilled skewers of meaty protein to baklava and fresh figs.

Also look for unusual specials that explore the byways of regional peasant cooking: garidakia (Mediterranean prawns with Feta cheese and aubergines in filo pastry), revithia (chick peas with spinach and tomatoes) and kalamarakia yemista (whole squid stuffed with its tentacles, spinach and rice, then cooked in red wine) have all graced the menu from time to time.
