David Kennedy's Food Social Review

Food Social is the new restaurant concept by David Kennedy formerly of Black Door fame, this grown-up brasserie is housed in Newcastle's famous Biscuit Factory - Britain's largest art store/gallery. Not surprisingly, much of the interior space is taken up by contemporary prints, photos, drawings, sculpture and photography, and the cooking follows a vivid modern path.

Locally sourced ingredients (including fish from North Shields quay) are the backbone of the seasonal menus, which offer high-class brasserie cooking at affordable prices in a setting that is classy, bustling and informal.
