A ravishingly romantic restaurant-with-rooms in the tourist honeypot of Bourton-on-the-Water, the Dial House is the oldest surviving building in the village and was standing proud long before the bridges were erected over the River Windrush.
The place takes its name from the seventeenth-century sundial outside the entrance, and the interior is stuffed with period features, inglenook fireplaces, poor boxes, monk's chairs, secret cupboards and water wells.
