The Eagle Review
Widely regarded as the mother of all gastropubs, the Eagle is still delivering the goods to an appreciative local crowd. The setting, a single, bare-boarded room near the old Guardian offices, still strikes first-timers as chaotic - nothing fits, nothing is co-ordinated, but the whole enterprise zings with life. There's no distinction between where you eat and where you drink.
Food is listed on blackboards above the bar.
