A bastion of the south London Chinese restaurant scene for more than 30 years, the Eastern Queen is a local institution valued for its friendly, personal service and great-value food. The place is easily recognised by its long brown frontage, and inside it has been neatly done out in oriental style.
The long 200-dish menu is a mixed bag of favourites and less familiar specialities: expect to see barbecued spare ribs, crispy aromatic duck and king prawns with ginger and spring onions alongside smoked shredded duck, Tibetan garlic lamb and beancurd with chilli and spiced salt.
