A classy-looking Indian restaurant near the city's Comely Bank area, Far Pavilions puts on a stylish show with its etched glass screens and intimate eating areas.
The kitchen specialises in authentic Indian and Pakistani cooking with a few individual twists and some unusual dish names. Chicken bhuna, lamb dopiaza and vegetable biryani are familiar enough, but also look out for Goan prawn balchao served on garlic bread, lamb karanchi (fried parcels of flaky pastry stuffed with minced lamb and served with yoghurt-based chutney) and malika e dariya (sea bream marinated with mango poweder and black pepper).
