Set in an attractive village on the outskirts of historic Chester, the Farndon is a rather grand-looking, timber-framed building on three floors, with etched windows, gables and a couple of little balconies. It's just up the road from the River Dee, which marks the dividing line between England and Wales.
The restaurant's signature dish is a starter of baked banana with Cheshire blue cheese, grilled local bacon and a 'coed du' cream sauce.
