Visitors to this 300-year-old coaching inn can take advantage of a stroll round the owners' very own 11-acre nature reserve, which stands right next to the pub. After a spot of birdwatching or botanising, retreat to the comfort of the traditional bar where a fire burns in the old Yorkshire range and no fruit machines, pool tables or jukeboxes disturb the rural peace.
The Fat Lamb now bills itself as a 'country inn and restaurant', and you can enjoy no-frills cooking in the elegantly decorated dining room, where more than 100 decorative plates adorn the walls and the menu is based around locally procured ingredients.
