Brockton is right on the walkers' trail across Wenlock Edge, a few miles southwest of Much Wenlock. Trekkers with aching feet often seek refuge in the sixteenth-century Feathers, which provides warmth and nourishment in abundance. Wood-burning stoves do their stuff in vast inglenooks and the interior is a pleasing mix of whitewashed stone walls, tiled floors and old beams, plus a few statues and hessian drapes at the windows for good measure.
If you are in need of sustenance, take a look at the blackboards, which advertise a range of traditional and modern dishes including a warm salad of scallops and black pudding, salmon and cod fish cakes with lemon butter sauce or shoulder of lamb with creamed leeks and rosemary jus.
