Set back from the road at the end of an avenue of chestnut trees, Baslow Hall looks for all the world like a historic manor house with its gabled wings, leaded window panes and tall chimneys. But don't be fooled: it was actually erected in 1907 for an eccentric local vicar.

Max and Susan Fischer are diligent, long-serving hosts, and visitors love the place for its relaxed, charming feel.
