A long-running haven for lovers of seafood, Gamba occupies a pleasingly relaxed, laid-back basement in the centre of the city. It's a real breath of fresh sea air wafting through the increasingly hard-edged atmosphere of Glasgow's new eateries.

The speciality fish soup is a near-legendary broth that might be given a tweak with dumplings or with baby crayfish tails and coriander.
