'A little southern star,' was how one reviewer summed up Ganapati a beguiling little South Indian restaurant in a swanky Peckham backstreet. Named after the benign elephant-headed god of Ganesh, Ganapati is a cosy, buzzy, vividly decorated place, owned and run by Claire Fisher - an enthusiast devotee of South Indian cuisine, who spent time in the kitchens of Rasa Samudra before heading off to Kerala to learn about the food first hand.
She cooks and oversees proceedings in the tiny kitchen, with help from some Indian colleagues, and her short menu goes straight to the heart of things.
