A dyed-in-the-wool, touristy Welsh hotel with the mountains of Snowdonia on its doorstep isn't the kind of place where you expect to find aromatic crispy duck or sizzling Szechuan king prawns on the menu. But that's exactly what you get at The Garden Hotel.

Ornamental dragon's heads, decorative fans, screens and luxuriant plants add a touch of exoticism to the simply decorated dining room, and the menu is a long trawl through the accessible side of Chinese cuisine.
