The Garrick Restaurant, Hendon Hall Hotel Review

Famous as the home of legendary eighteenth-century thespian David Garrick (whose memorial still stands in the grounds), Hendon Hall has enjoyed a colourful history over the years: it once served as a Victorian girls' school and RAF convalescent home, and was resurrected as a hotel after World War II.

Meals are served in an opulent Gothic-style dining room with impressive columns, billowing drapes, high-backed seats and dramatic red colour schemes - but there 's nothing stuffy or archaic about the food.
