A lofty church hall turned artist's studio is the curious setting for The Gate, an inventive and hugely popular vegetarian restaurant in Hammersmith. Natural light floods into the yellow-painted dining room from the glass panels on the sloping ceiling, dramatic canvases line the walls and pretty candles illuminate the tables at night.
Forget all those 'lentils and sandals' clichés, this is a vegetarian venue with oodles of pizzazz, creativity and palate-teasing flavours.
