The George Hotel Review

This fine-looking Edwardian-style inn (originally called the George & Dragon) was the birthplace of the Norfolk Naturalists Trust and it continues to attract birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts from around the world. It has recently been taken over by the team from the White Horse Hotel in nearby Blakeney, who have given it a stylish modern look, while faithfully preserving many of its famous features: note the vivid stained-glass window in the bar and legendary 'bird bible' (a record of rare sightings displayed on a lectern).

Chef Chris Joy learned his trade at the White Horse and he works closely with suppliers and producers in the neighbourhood: smoked fish comes from the high-ranking Cley Smokehouse just a few doors away, while oysters and mussels are provided by locals.
