Emily Hammond is doing a grand job as landlady of this idyllic 400-year-old village pub on the borders of Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Once the local tax collection centre, the building has kept much of its historical charm - especially in the traditional bar with its low beams, warming fire, old pictures and real ales on handpump.
Much of the attention has now shifted from drinking to eating, with the clean-lined dining room getting plenty of plaudits these days.
