The Granville Review

Taking its name from a Tudor warship, the Granville stands close to the ancient village of Lower Hardres (derived from the Saxon word meaning 'flinty' – referring to the local soil).

The Granville is now run by Phil and Gabrielle Harris, who also oversee The Sportman at Seasalter, near Whitstable. It succeeds in playing the twin roles of local pub and up-and-coming restaurant, and the décor is a tasteful mix of rug-strewn floors, leather sofas, lithographs hanging on the walls and well-spaced tables.

Anyone looking for a light lunch could opt for a ploughman's or a baguette, but the best stuff is on the blackboard menus.
