Green Door Bar & Grill Review

Occupying the site of the one-time Lay & Wheeler Wine Bar, the Green Door has rapidly set itself up as one of the prime destinations for bullish American food and grills in the neighbourhood around Bank. Inside, it looks pretty flashy with pillars, an open staircase and spotlights in the silver-painted ceiling.

Carefully sourced, six-week aged and perfectly hung Argentinian steaks are the big draw, and they are backed up by other prime cuts from the 'meat locker': look for 'flintstone' beef ribs with BBQ sauce, 16oz beef chops on the bone, and 6-bone venison racks.

The menu also works its way through crab cakes, smoked duck with coleslaw, Caesar salad and whole steamed sea bass with spicy roasted pepper salsa, before signing off with baked vanilla cheesecake or whiskey bread-and-butter pudding.
