The well-maintained Green Man stands just outside the village of Partridge Green, but it's easy to spot: just look for the neat exterior, lawned garden and water features. Inside, the intentions are clear, with most space taken up by an up-market, open-plan dining room bedecked with rustic bric-a-brac and prints.
At lunchtime you can get a range of light dishes ranging from club sandwiches to a dressed-up 'late breakfast' assemblage of bubble 'n' squeak with a poached egg, smoky bacon, Parmesan shavings and curly kale surrounded by a cherry tomato fondue.
The full menu kicks of with appetisers (seared scallops flambéed in brandy with sweet shallot purée) and a handful of tapas including gulas (baby eels in garlic and olive oil with crusty olive oil bread).
