Plush and flawlessly professional, this modern grand hotel by the Five Ways intersection has become something of a Birmingham landmark over the years. Acres of marble and glitter dominate the interior along with luxuriant flower arrangements.

The restaurant has seen several changeovers and different incarnations but, as the swish West 12, it serves contemporary brasserie-style food in sumptuous, indulgently comfortable surroundings.
