A top-class refurb of a has-been country boozer, the Greene Oak was named after its location - a clearing in Windsor Forest that marks the site of an ancient Saxon battlefield. Oakley Green is a lovely rural oasis midway between the culinary hotspots of Windsor and Bray, and this venue clearly has big aspirations.
Current owners Henry and Katherine Cripps cut their managerial teeth is some of London's top gastropubs including the Admiral Codrington and have given the pub a brand new look with calming green and cream paintwork, antique furnishings and a covered terrace for al fresco meals.
