Jamal Ahmed and his family are proud cultural ambassadors who have brought a taste of authentic Kurdish cuisine to the streets of Edinburgh. The man himself is normally to be found overseeing the dining room, dressed in traditional garb – and may even be persuaded to do a bit of authentic dancing if the mood allows.
Top billing on the menu goes to qozy – a massive casserole-for-one of braised lamb, onions and gravy served with bread, rice and a side dish of bamya (okra with tomatoes and garlic) – but there's much more to explore.
