Heddy Ghazizadeh's popular neighbourhood restaurant is a real Mecca for fans of East Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking without frills. The extensive menu provides cracking value for money – especially at lunchtime, when you can nip in for a plate of meze, an open sandwich of tabbouleh and falafel, or a salad of Haloumi cheese and spinach.
In the evening, the focus shifts to couscous, all manner of high-protein kebabs and traditional Middle Eastern specialities such as faruj (marinated roast poussin stuffed with spicy minced lamb, rice and nuts served with brandy sauce) or char-grilled smoked fillet steak marinated in red wine, black peppercorns and spices.
